Erstwhile Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has returned with his first solo album in nine years, Luck And Strange. We heralded his return a while ago with a post about the first single, “The Piper’s Call,” a song that has only grown in my estimation since it came out. I had to look it up,…
I think one of the things that I enjoy most these days is the fact that veteran rockers continue to come up with ways to surprise me. While I’ve been floating in a Pearl Jam cloud since I saw them a week ago in Chicago, and have been keeping an eye out for anticipated releases…
*Eddie Vedder, pictured above honoring the great Walter Payton, and drummer Matt Cameron taken by your intrepid blogger Thursday night… I have just returned from seeing Pearl Jam up in Chicago, at the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, (home of the Cubs) on Thursday night, August 29th. I won’t lie, I’m still in that post-concert…
*Picture of Aerosmith, in their glory days, taken from the internet and likely copyrighted… I know I’ve already posted on the sad demise of Aerosmith due to Steven Tyler’s vocal issues. He apparently injured his vocal chords last September and it looks like he’s not going to recover and so Aerosmith has cancelled all remaining…

A few weeks back there were rumblings coming out of Third Man Records, Jack White’s small independent record company, that a new Jack White solo album, his sixth, had hit the street. Customers who purchased vinyl albums – and Third Man is nothing if not a vinyl paradise – were receiving a free, unmarked album…
“I can’t pretend that growing older never hurts…” – Pete Townshend, “Slit Skirts” A few weeks back Pete Townshend – lead guitarist/vocalist/songwriter for the Who – released a massive 14 CD box set of live material that spans his solo performances over a 16 year span. I’ve been a big fan of Pete Townshend since…
Vaunted American rock n roll band Aerosmith has called it quits…time to lower the rock n roll flag to half mast. They had already announced their retirement and like Elton John, were going to go out after an extensive tour. But on September 9th of last year lead singer Steven Tyler apparently injured his vocal…
