Review: Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts, ‘Talkin’ To The Trees’ – An Uneven Yet Solid Album
ByKenneth Corsini June 19, 2025June 18, 2026
Neil Young has recently released a brand new studio album, Talkin’ To The Trees. On this outing, he’s subbed out Crazy Horse and has brought in a “new-ish” band, the Chrome Hearts. The Chrome Hearts are basically Promise of the Real (who have been Neil’s on and off backup band for a while): Micah Nelson…

Review: Van Morrison, ‘Remembering Now’ – A Late Career Gem, After A Rough Few Years
ByKenneth Corsini June 16, 2025June 18, 2026
On Van Morrison’s fabulous new album, Remembering Now, he has a song entitled, “Back To Writing Love Songs,” and can I be the first to say, “Thank Heaven!” I have to admit to you, I’d given up on Van. He’s always been a cranky curmudgeon but the pandemic sent him off the deep end… not…

A Tough Week In Rock N Roll: We Lost Both Sly Stone & Brian Wilson, RIP
ByKenneth Corsini June 13, 2025June 18, 2026
*Image of Sly & The Family Stone taken from Wikipedia, likely copyrighted It was a tough week for rock n roll. We lost two 60s rock n roll legends, Sly Stone (aka Sly Stewart) of Sly and the Family Stone and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. It was strange to have all that happen…

Playlist: In Honor Of “The Summer Of Love,” We Go Outside Our Wheelhouse, Songs From…1967
ByKenneth Corsini June 11, 2025June 18, 2026
“Turn on, tune in, drop out” – Timothy Leary, 1967 I don’t why, but lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the 60s. I was but a babe in diapers and missed out on that whole counterculture scene but I like to think I’d have been a hippy, much to my father’s chagrin. I guess…

New Song: Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs Return With Wistful “Heart Of The Heartland”
ByKenneth Corsini June 6, 2025June 18, 2026
I was surprised to see on social media that Mike Campbell and his intrepid Dirty Knobs (guitarist Jason Sinay, bassist Lance Morrison and former Heartbreaker Steve Ferrone on drums) were releasing a new album this year. I was surprised but certainly delighted. I’ve been a big fan of this band since their debut album, 2020’s…

Review: ‘Heart Of Gold, The Songs Of Neil Young, Vol 1’ – A Nice Tribute LP Benefiting The Bridge School (feat. Eddie Vedder, Fiona Apple & Others)
ByKenneth Corsini June 3, 2025June 18, 2026
I don’t know what rock I was living under lately – I have been listening to late period Doors and a lot of single-LP live albums of late and was rather immersed in that, I guess – but I was completely unaware that in late April there was a wonderful Neil Young tribute album released…

Beyond “Double Live” Albums, Let’s Look At Single-LP Live Albums – Our Favorites
ByKenneth Corsini June 1, 2025June 18, 2026
*Crappy picture of live LPs from Townshend, Hendrix, Elton, Lou Reed, Jackson Browne, Faces/Rod, and the Blues Brothers by your intrepid blogger who moonlights as a very bad photographer While my listening of late has been very 1985-centric what with both Dire Straits (Brothers In Arms) and INXS (Listen Like Thieves) releasing deluxe editions of…

Lookback: The Doors ’70 – ’71, The Return To Blues Rock On ‘Morrison Hotel’ & ‘L.A. Woman’ – The End Of The Jim Morrison Era
ByKenneth Corsini May 27, 2025June 18, 2026
“I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer…” – The Doors, “Roadhouse Blues” (Photo above likely subject to copyright) I saw Jim Morrison, former lead singer of the Doors, was in the news the other day. Well, if I’m being a little more accurate, his tombstone was in the news. Morrison is…

Review (Lookback 2.0): Dire Straits, ‘Brothers In Arms (40th Anniversary Ed)’ – Complete With Full ’85 Concert Recording
ByKenneth Corsini May 21, 2025June 18, 2026
Dire Straits recently released Brothers In Arms (40th Anniversary Edition) to celebrate the big anniversary of their landmark 1985 album. If you’ve been reading B&V for any amount of time, I know what you’re thinking… “Didn’t you already post about this album?” Yes, I did. As the calendar turned to 2025 I did a playlist…

Review: INXS, ‘Listen Like Thieves (40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)’
ByKenneth Corsini May 15, 2025June 18, 2026
Just last Friday, INXS released Listen Like Thieves (40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition). We’ve done a couple of lookbacks to 1985, foremost of which was our Playlist: Rock Songs From 1985. It was a very synth heavy/drum machine kind of year. I chose to also look back to Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms (perhaps the album…
